Job Title: Assistant Risk Officer Location: [City/Branch Office] Reports to: Risk Manager / Chief Risk Officer Organization: Bayport (or similar microfinance institution) Job Summary: The Assistant Risk Officer supports the implementation and maintenance of the institution's risk management framework, policies, and procedures. The role involves identifying, assessing, monitoring, and reporting financial and operational risks to ensure the sustainability and integrity of microfinance operations. The Assistant Risk Officer works closely with internal departments to promote a strong risk culture across the organization. Key Responsibilities: Risk Identification & Assessment Assist in identifying and evaluating risks across credit, operational, compliance, and market risk areas. Conduct risk assessments on new products, services, and procedures. Monitoring & Reporting Monitor internal controls and risk indicators. Prepare periodic risk reports, dashboards, and summaries for management and regulatory use. Track and report on risk incidents and near-misses. Compliance & Internal Controls Support compliance checks and ensure adherence to internal risk policies and regulatory requirements. Work with internal audit and compliance departments to address risk-related issues. Credit Risk Assist in evaluating loan portfolio risks (e.g., PAR, delinquency trends). Support the credit risk review process and recommend mitigation strategies. Operational Risk Monitor process efficiency, fraud risk, and system vulnerabilities. Assist in business continuity planning and disaster recovery assessments. Training & Risk Culture Promote awareness and understanding of risk management among staff through training and communication. Support the rollout of new risk policies and updates. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. 1–3 years of experience in risk, compliance, audit, or financial services. Microfinance or retail banking experience is an advantage. Familiarity with risk management frameworks and tools. Understanding of regulatory requirements in the financial sector (e.g., Central Bank guidelines). Skills & Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and report-writing abilities. High attention to detail and integrity. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint). Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Work Conditions: Office-based with occasional travel to branches. May involve tight deadlines and pressure during audits or regulatory reviews.
